Diamond Head area encompasses a large section of neighborhoods bordering Waikiki on the west end following Kapahulu to Saint Louis Heights up the hill to west of Hawaii Kai neighborhood. It is a mix of older communities and newer gated subdivision, hillside neighborhoods, ocean front estates, and small subdivided land areas. Some of the most expensive homes in the Hawaiian Islands are found in the Diamond Head Region.

Black Point - Gated community located off Kahala Avenue with oceanfront estates
Diamond Head - Unique luxury properties located in the foothills of Diamond Head Crater
Hawaii Loa Ridge - Gated ridge side community of large custom built homes
Kahala - One of the most preferred neighborhoods in Oahu

Maunalanu Heights -

Niu Beach -

Paiko Lagoon -
Waialae Golf Course - Built surrounding the Waialae Golf Course off Kalanianaole Highway
Waialae Iki – Ridge side community close to Kahala and Waialae Golf Course
Wailupe Beach - Located on Wailupe Peninsula, 2% of each property owned by association

Hawaii Kai planned community was developed by Henry J. Kaiser, the renowned industrialist, steel tycoon whose shipbuilding empire produced 1,500 vessels during World War II. Since its development in the 1960's, Hawaii Kai has become one of the premier suburbs of Oahu. There are hillside and waterfront homes, gated communities and bungalow-style homes on flat land, Hawaii Kai has something for everyone. To get the panoramic view of the Hawaii Kai community, drive up to a lookout on Kalanianaole Highway.

Kamehame Ridge - Ridge community between Hawaii Kai and Sandy Beach
Koko Kai - Southeastern most tip of Oahu, streets are built on tiers offering good view channels.
Koko Head Terrace - Originally developed in the late 1960s to early 1970s, lots are mostly flat
Napali Haweo - Custom single family homes built in the 1990s
Portlock - Gem of Hawaii Kai, distinguished oceanfront estates
Triangle - Mix of moderate homes with little view to upscale homes with sweeping views of ocean

Makiki Heights, Tantalus and Manoa neighborhoods are found just mauka (mountain side) of Ala Moana and Waikiki. These are old established neighborhoods favored by locals (the Kama'aina.)

Makiki Heights - Early hillside developments where homes were built to get away from the heat and congestion of the city
Tantalus - Many of these are old estates including one formerly owned by Richard Chamberlain, film actor
Manoa Lower - Houses are built on mostly flat land with no view. Area is dryer than Manoa Upper.
Manoa Area -
Manoa Upper- Views of the Manoa Valley and Honolulu. Tropical rainforest like setting.

Waikiki - over a century ago this world-famous tourist destination was a swamp land. In 1921 draining of this swamp land began via creation of the Ala Wai Canal. Sands were brought in other parts of Oahu to create the stretches of Waikiki Beach. Today, Waikiki encompasses approximately one square mile with over 60,000 hotel rooms. Among hotels and condominium accommodations, investors can find some single-family home residences and apartment buildings.

Waikiki - Both single-family homes and small multi-family apartment buildings can be found between high rises

Kailua - this is your characteristic beach town located on the Windward side of Oahu. There are no resorts in Kailua but there are vacation rentals and Bed and Breakfast establishments in this community. This is a place to live if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city yet it is only 20 - 30 minutes from downtown Honolulu via the Pali Highway. The best place to get a panoramic view of Kailua is from the Nuuanu Pali Lookout.

Aikahi Park - Nice location near Kailua Bay and easy access to Honolulu via the H-3 Freeway
Beachside - Series of private roads off North Kalaheo Avenue which dead-ends to Kailua Bay
Kailua Estate -
Kaimalino - Neighborhood gives a feeling of old Hawaii. Rocky coastline with no sandy beaches
Lanikai - Most sought after neighborhoods in Windward Oahu. Lanikai Beach is one of the top beaches in the world
Maunawili - Residential area located on the mountain side of Kalanianaole Highway

Kaneohe - this is largely a bedroom community and also the home of the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base located on the shoreline of Kaneohe Bay. Many single-family residences as well as townhouse projects are built around the bay. Views of Koolau Mountains and the bay may be enjoyed from many of these homes.

North Shore Area - this is where ocean plays the central part of people's lives beaches of North shore are ragged coves framed in lava promontories. During the winter months, world class surfing events are held here. Monster waves can reach 30 to 40 feet where experienced surfers compete for titles. "Old Hawaii" charm, country living, relaxed pace of life is what North Shore residents enjoy.

Kawailoa -
Pupukea - Hillside community overlooking the rocky Pupukea Beach park
Mokuleia - A small, quiet bedroom community
Sunset Area - Take Kamehameha Highway to this popular surfing destination
Waialua - Laid back lifestyle, originally a sugar mill town

Leeward Area - beachfront homes along the Waianae Coast are attracting interest from out-of-town buyers who are lured by its stark beautify and still "affordable" prices than elsewhere on Oahu.

Makaha Oceanfront - Last town along the western coastline, beautiful untamed beaches
Maili Oceanfront - Oceanfront estates are found along this stretch of Leeward Oahu

Ewa Plain - originally this was a plantation town with housing for plantation workers. In 1988 Ewa-Gentry started the housing project with the "Soda Creek" single family homes. Today there are over 8,000 units of single and multi-family projects in this neighborhood. New homes are still available at affordable prices for first time homeowners and investors. The only challenge is that the commute, but plans to build a light rail from Kapolei to Honolulu are underway to alleviate traffic.

Kapolei - Campbell Estate development is being marketed as the Second City of Hawaii
Ko Olina - Luxury homes in a gated golf course and resort community

In 1968, master plan was developed to sale affordable housing in this community. Newcomers to Hawaii select this neighborhood because it reminds them of communities "back home" on the mainland United States. With elevation from 700 feet to 1000 feet above sea level, the temperature can range from mid 60's to low 80's year around. Commuting to town may be challenging if you have to drive during the rush hours. It can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 90 minutes to drive from Mililani to downtown depending on traffic.

Mililani Area - Accessible via H-2, homes are still affordable though expect longer commutes into Honolulu
Mililani Mauka - Newest development in Mililani, resembles mainland suburbia with lot of parks and green areas
